Since 1975

Gallery Baraz was founded by Yahşi Baraz on 14 November 1975. Leaving 45 years behind, filled with countless activities, the gallery has created a private collection containing valuable works as well as a comprehensive archive of Turkish painting art, organized more than 250 individual and group painting exhibitions, and has been famous from 19th century painting to the present day. He has contributed to many collectors with the works of Turkish and foreign painters, has published catalogs, has carefully created a large art library that includes examples from world painting literature that can be used by researchers.

ABOUT YAHŞİ BARAZ

Born in Istanbul in Kurtuluş in 1944, Yahsi Baraz is the son of the most influential Chief of Staff of the Sultan Reşad period and the grandson of Zeki Pasha, who signed the famous Breslitovsk Agreement, and the Turkologist Ahmet Münir Baraz. Baraz, who contributed greatly to the establishment of the Turkish painting art market, entered the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts, which is now Mimar Sinan Fine Arts, in 1969 until he graduated in 1969, Sabri Berkel, Belkıs Mutlu, Nejdad Diyarbakırlı, İsmail Hakkı Oygar, Edip He takes lessons from Hakkı Köseoğlu, Bülent Özer and Sadi Diren. At the same time, he has the chance to study many international museums during his travels abroad during school holidays. Yahşi Baraz, who received the “Thanksgiving Plaque” given to the galleries who completed their 20th year in culture and arts service by Tüyap in 1998, is still in the service of Turkish art with the organization of nearly 40 national art fairs and over 230 exhibitions he has organized. Galeri Baraz, which he founded in 2010, aims to offer reference books about Turkish and world art to art lovers.
